Why did we create these cards?
Our Inspiration and Discussion Card sets have become a very popular resource for services, due to their high visual appeal and their simple, informative format that encourages reflection and discussion between educators.
This set explores the importance and the practicalities of Effective Supervision. When we began delivering training on this topic in 2019, we never could have imagined just how widely it would be sought. We launched our Effective Supervision online mini course in 2020 and to date it is our most accessed online course. The topic became so big, that we wrote a book for Essential Resources about it.
Yes, it sounds like a "dry, compliance-y" type of topic, but we know that child safety is vital for wellbeing and learning, and that effective supervision has a positive impact on all aspects of our pedagogy and practice.
We have created these cards to inspire discussion, thought and reflection.
Each card provides information, reflective prompts and beautiful photographs.
What can you do with them?
We've visited services who have hung theirs on a hook in the room, or in the staff room. You could also:
- Make them available in your programming/documentation area
- Work through one card at each team meeting - use them to spark discussion within the team
- Use them during the induction process for new educators
