THIS IS A SET OF 11 POSTERS
We are delighted to release a new range of posters, exploring the concept of Schema Play.
Why did we create these posters?
Understanding children's Schema Play can be the key to unlocking a lot of the random and sometimes challenging patterns of behaviours that we see in children. When we understand what schema play looks like and how we can support it, we are able to embrace it, meaning that children's needs are met!
We created these posters to share some of the schema play types, as well as the benefits of these types of play with families, to put language around it. We also hope that educators will find them beneficial, using them to support their documentation of play and to plan environments and experiences for children.
This set includes 11 Schema Play Types:
- Transformation
- Connection
- Enveloping
- Filling and Emptying
- Rotation and Circularity
- Orientation
- Positioning
- Enclosure
- Going through a Boundary
- Transporting
- Trajectory
Each poster contains examples of what each play type may look like, an insight into the skills and knowledge that children are gaining when they engage in this type of play, examples of how educators and families can support the play, and engaging colour photographs.
